What is Forces Help to Buy?
Designed to support both first-time buyers and those required to move with the military Forces Help to Buy (FHTB) is a government-backed loan scheme that allows eligible service personnel to borrow up to 50% of their annual salary (up to £25,000) interest-free to use towards a house deposit, legal fees, or other purchase costs. The loan is repaid over 10 years directly from your salary.

Am I eligible for FHTB?
If you’re in regular service, completed at least 1 years service, have 6 months remaining on your contract and you’re either a first-time buyer, relocating due to assignment, or have a medical/family need then you’re likely be eligible. AFFS will confirm your eligibility and handle all aspects of your application.
Can I apply while overseas or deployed?
Yes — we manage the full process remotely, including FHTB forms.
Is FHTB treated like a deposit?
